RBC Heritage 2024 Betting Preview And Picks

Following the first major of the year at The Masters and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler‘s dominating win for his second green jacket and third PGA Tour win in 2024, the top PGA Tour pros head 140 miles Southeast to Hilton Head Island for the 2024 RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links. The best-ever field is teeing it up at Harbour Town with all but Viktor Hovland and Hideki Matsuyama teeing it up from the top-30 players on the PGA Tour. Last year, 7 of the top 10 players in the world rankings were in the field and we cashed an outright win bet (below) on Matt Fitzpatrick (35/1), who won in a playoff over 2022 RBC Heritage winner Jordan Spieth.

The field of 69 players will be shooting for a $3.6 million top prize and plaid jacket from the $20 million Signature Event.

Last year when I was provided added golf content and picks for FanDuel and affiliate sites, we flushed another 8-iron in close with a Top-20 winner on Tommy Fleetwood, who finished T15. We’re high on Fleetwood and others again this week as the top players from The Masters take a swing at Harbour Town.

Harbour Town Golf Links

A players favorite on the Pete Dye design, Harbour Town Golf Links is a Par 71 tree-lined track that plays to 7,213 yards for the RBC Heritage event. Experience helps as players navigate a claustrophotic course where water is in play on all 18 holes. Golfers shape shots into tiny greens that average 3,700 square feet – second smallest on the PGA Tour. The perennial ryegrass rough is down from last year’s cut of 2.5 inches.

The doglegs around the trees and penalty areas don’t allow for the big hitters to separate themselves off the tee, as players often hit to similar target areas with more approach shots from 175 yards range.

See more players comments on Harbour Town including from Scottie Scheffler in my RBC Heritage preview in Forbes.

RBC Heritage Odds 2024 and Picks

Fairway’s Favorites: Patrick Cantlay, Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick, Cameron Young
Fairway’s Longshots: Will Zalatoris, Si Woo Kim, Shane Lowry, Adam Schenk

Area Golfers to Watch: Russell Henley, Chris Kirk, Brian Harman, Sepp Straka, Brendon Todd, Lucas Glover

Tournament Match-ups: Will Zalatoris (-120) over Jordan Spieth (DraftKings/FanDuel) and Adam Schenk (-126) over Andrew Putnam (Circa)
Round 1 Match-up:  Tommy Fleetwood (+150) over Scottie Scheffler (Circa)

Despite Jordan Spieth winning here in a playoff in 2022 and finishing runner-up last year in a playoff, the 30-year-old is not likely to find as much success this week with his game in a poor place. Spieth has missed the cut in three of his last four events including in The Players Championship which requires precision iron play. Spieth has lost strokes Tee-to-Green in four of his last five tournaments and his Approach stats rank outside the top-100 over his last 24 rounds.

Meanwhile, Will Zalatoris has continued his elite ball striking while also averaging 4+ strokes on the field in Strokes Gained Tee to-Green over his last five events. That includes a T9 last week at The Masters, T4 at the Arnold Palmer Inviational and T2 at The Genesis Invitational.

Next week it’s the Zurich Classic of New Orleans at TPC Louisiana – the two-man team event on the PGA Tour won by Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele (-29) in 2022 and longshots Nick Hardy and Davis Riley (-30) in 2023.
