Rocket Classic 2026 Golf Betting Preview And Picks

The Rocket Classic 2026 PGA tournament at Donald Ross-designed Detroit Golf Club is the final event in July as the PGA Tour pushes towards the FedEx Cup Playoffs starting in two weeks with the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Plenty of players are trying to position themselves within the top 70 of the FedEx Cup Standings to earn a spot in the playoffs and not only big money payoffs, but continued play on the PGA Tour for those players on the bubble of the top 70.

That includes 21-year-old rookie Jackson Koivun, who won last week’s 3M Championship to move up to No. 70 and right on the cutline for the playoffs with two events remaining.

Two years ago, just two players in the top 25 played in the Rocket (Mortgage) Classic. This year, 10 top 25 players are in the field. But plenty of other players pushing hard towards the FedEx Cup Playoffs and hovering around the bubble (70th).

Seven players shot -20 under par or better last year, including Rocket Classic winner Alrich Potgeiter (-22) in a 3-man playoff over Chris Kirk and Max Greyserman with Thorbjornsen and Knapp (T4) another stroke back.

But the Detroit Golf Club (video) underwent a massive $16.1 million overhaul for the 2026 tournament with the 7,328 yard course now playing to a par 70 (previous 72) and longer par 4’s and just two par 5’s.

Since going 1-1 in tournament matchups on two underdogs at The U.S. Open, our weekly PGA Tournament picks went 1-0 at both the Travelers Championship and John Deere Classic , and then 0-1 at The Open Championship with top player profiles, but had the outright winner Ryan Fox (175/1) bet at 400/1, and also top finishing position winners on Tommy Fleetwood (T4). Tournament matchups are now 23-13 YTD, including 11-10 in all Majors and Signature Events posted at Off Shore Gaming Association in addition to Vegas Sports Zone. Additional props went 4-1 in both the Travelers and John Deere tournaments recently.

Next week it’s the Wyndham Championship, where Cameron Young won last year’s event for his first PGA Tour victory, and he’s now a 2026 Player of the Year favorite. The Wyndham event is played at another Donald Ross design, Sedgfield Country Club in Greensboro, NC. Then the FedEx Cup St. Jude Championship on Aug. 13 at TPC Southwind in Memphis kicks off the 3-tournament FedEx Cup Playoffs and big money events.
