NFL Week 9 Picks, Props And Parlays

We hit the halfway point of the 2026 NFL season with Week 9 action. Just two division games with eight interconference games headlined by the AFC East-leading Buffalo Bills (6-1) at NFC North-leading Minnesota Vikings (6-1) on Monday Night Football. NFL Week 9 picks and tips also features nine road favorites, which will lead to plenty of public bettors finding road teams more difficult when taking on the leading online sportsbooks.

NFC North Best

A look at the NFL standings and you’ll see the NFC North teams all have winning records – Vikings (6-1), Bears (6-2), Lions (5-2) and Packers (5-3). Since the NFL expanded the playoffs six seasons ago, no division has had all four of its teams qualify for the postseason in the same year. BetOnline’s adjusted season win totals has all four teams juiced to the over and at least 9.5 wins with the Bears (11.5) Vikings (10.5) and Lions (10.5) favored to win at least 11 games and all four teams favored to make the playoffs – Packers (-115), Lions (-280), Vikings (-350), and Bears (-650).

Winning With Defensive Stats

Last week I posted on X and our OSGA NFL Week 8 coverage four key defensive stats I use to assist us in our handicapping and point spread prognosis to help us find and bet more winners. This guideline is more beneficial the second half of the season. When a team is better in 3-4 defensive stats, it won at a 64% ATS rate last season from Week 8 forward on nearly 100 games. Last week, those teams that had the stats edge in Total Yards, Yards per Play, Yards per Rush and Points allowed went 6-5 ATS including our top play on the Buccaneers, who were better in all four categories against the Falcons and then shut them out 16-0 in poor weather conditions, also a totals winner for us.

I won’t post the matchups and stats each week here, but use and mention some of those in our game analysis and picks with some periodic posts @FairwayJay on X. This week there are five teams with defensive stats edges in all four categories, including the 49ers at home off a bye against the Raiders.

Betting Tips, Totals and Teasers

– Jaguars-Ravens: Under 40
– Giants-Eagles: Under 38.5
– Raiders-49ers: Over 51.5 to 52.5
– Bengals-Falcons: Over 52.5
– Packers-Patriots: Over 44.5

The Bengals-Falcons matchup in Madrid, Spain kicks off Sunday NFL action. Bengals QB Joe Burrow comes off a 435 yards passing performance with 4 TD’s in last week’s 43-36 OT win over the Titans. Cincinnati remains a pass-heavy ‘over’ team averaging 368 ypg, 6.0 yards per play and 29.4 points per game – second in the NFL behind the Bills (33.2). Burrow has seen single-high defensive coverage often this season, and the Falcons use it at a higher rate 61% of the time. Burrow is 2nd in completion rate and 6th in yards per pass against that coverage. Burrow’s quick releases from 90% shotgun snaps makes pressure more difficult for defenses. Bengals WR Tee Higgins has more matchups advantages than star WR Ja’Marr Chase, and we’ll evaluate more for player props but something for you to consider with your player props. The Falcons have played the third toughest schedule of pass defenses this season, and QB Michael Penix should also have more success against the Bengals noting Titans bad, bumbling QB Cam Ward passed for 304 yards at 7.6 yards per pass last week at Cincinnati. The last three QB’s the Bengals defense faced are Cam Ward, Tyler Huntley and Malik Willis. You get it, not good, yet Ward and Huntley set career-high’s in passing yards in a game. No excuses for Penix and the Falcons this week following their worst performance last week in bad weather at Tampa. The prior week Penix had his highest completion rate and 3 TD’s against the 49ers. Without pressure, the Bengals defense ranks No. 30 in yards per pass attempt. Penix is very poor against pressure completing a league-low 28.6% of his passes this season. But without pressure, Penix completes 73% of his passes and top-10 in yards per pass. Star receivers including Falcons Drake London, and let’s call for another shooutout in Spain.

As we evaluate more matchups and totals, know that these teams playing on the road this week have produced very high scoring results in their road games this season.
Bills (67.3 ppg), Lions (65.3), Raiders (58.8), Cowboys (54.4), Cardinals (52.5), Buccaneers (52.0).

These teams home games have been high-scoring – Panthers (70.0), Saints (59.7), Commanders (51.6).

Note the Saints are now a -3 point favorite and off a bye and last played and lost to the Steelers in France. In the last two seasons, all NFL favorites off a neutral site loss have gone 7-1 over/under. Of course, we have to consider the situations, injuries and player personnel with Browns bumbling QB Shedeur Sanders expected to now start as Deshaun Watson is in concussion protocol. Still considering total with Saints deficient defense and Browns average defense better in all four defensive stats categories. Also, the Raiders have played six straight games over the total with their deficient defense allowing at least 27 points in all six games with their capable offense scoring at least 26 points in 6-of-8 games this season. The 49ers offense leads the NFL averaging 6.4 yards per play, and the Raiders defense is last in the league allowing 6.1 yards per play. No team has had a tougher schedule than the Raiders, playing Rams, Bills and Patriots the last four weeks and 49ers, Seahawks, Broncos and Browns the next four games with three on the road.

Teasers (3-team 6.5 point, +130)
– Pass

More game analysis, stats, picks and profiles as we review the NFL weather and injury reports. Thursday night’s kickoff in Baltimore for the Jaguars-Ravens game has rain showers and thunderstorms (80%) in the forecast along with undrafted rookie QB Joe Fagnano starting for injured Lamar Jackson. The line is too high on the road favorite (lean BAL), and total down from 42.5 to 40/39.5.

You can bet on it.
