Travelers Championship 2023 Odds, Picks And Preview
Cross country travel from Los Angeles and the U.S. Open to Cromwell, CT and the New England area for the Travelers Championship 2023 tournament at TPC River Highlands. I chip-in golf coverage for Forbes and FanDuel along with affiliates, including Travelers Championship 2023 odds and picks.
The final Designated Elevated Event of the season has a $20 million prize pool and drew 8 of the top-10 and 31 of the top 40 players in the world golf rankings. Tee times start early Thursday and leading online sportsbooks provide live betting options throughout the tournament with featured groups and players drawing the most betting interest.
Of course, the favorites are not usually the best bets in the outright market, but can be re-evaluated with round-by-round adjusted odds. Last week, major longshot Wyndham Clark (85/1) won the U.S. Open by 1-stroke over Rory McIlroy (who we had multiple ways includuing +140 winner over Scottie Scheffler in tournament matchup).

TPC RiverHighlands is one of the shortest courses on the PGA Tour at 6,852 yards playing to Par 70. The tournament has delivered exciting action and is annually one of the top-3 attendance draws on the PGA Tour.

In a critical evaluation of many of the ‘experts’ that provide weekly PGA Tour picks, including some who I feature in my articles and content for Forbes and FanDuel, the PGA Tour and GolfBet guys along with some at CBS Sports are lining up (4 of 6) on Scottie Scheffler at ridiculously low odds to win the Travelers Championship. Many of these guys often pick one of the leading favorites as their ‘picks’, but you don’t see any bets, and we cannot endorse betting outrights at such low odds.
You can re-evaluate outright betting on players, including the favorites, after each round. Or take a better and more longterm profitable approach and bet tournament and/or round-by-round matchups, finishing position, props and adjusted odds market bets.
The other consideration I have yet to see any of these ‘experts’ mention is the letdown or emotional factor, similar to other sports where teams come off a big emotional game, perhaps against a big rival or meaningful game in the standings, payback, etc. We have guys like Scheffler coming off a major at the U.S. Open where he was contending to win again, pushing hard throughout, and now traveling across country. He faces another top-level field, and is he really going to be at his best? Not likely, and we certainly recognize and consider Scheffler’s strong strokes gained stats and play from tee-to-green, approach and more. His putting has let him down, despite a remarkable five-straight tournaments with top-5 finishes entering the U.S. Open plus a win at The PLAYERS Championship – another Pete Dye-designed course.
Then again, Scheffler’s best finish in three starts at TPC River Highlands is T13 in 2022. Not a bet of interest to win, and certainly not at 6/1.
While I do bet outrights, finish position and more match-ups, I don’t always bet every player in my picks. But I do bet others that may be after I post. It may be due to low odds, adjusted odds and I missed best number, or just trying to find other options in finishing position, match-ups and props. As I’m able to dig deeper and research and handicap more, I add others, including match-ups. Time constraints factor in, along with odds and value, which you should always be shooting for in your pursuit of profit, fairways and greens.
