Betting The 2023 U.S. Open: Golf Odds, Picks And Player Profiles

Another major and tee time is approaching for the opening round of the 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club. Check out the hole-by-hole flyover of the course, which will play to 7,421 yards and Par 70. I chip-in U.S. Open coverage again on various platforms and media outlets, and you can review more at FanDuel’s affiliate content site The Duel Sports along with my added player profiles and stats for the top-30 ranked players in the world at Off Shore Gaming Association.

I also chip-in more U.S. Open coverage in Forbes. I’ll be adding more for the 123rd U.S. Open, and also be a guest June 15 on CBS News and their streaming coverage discussing golf and major news regarding the PGA, LIV Golf and DP World Tour announcement last week. So check back as we fire for more birdies and green.

2023 U.S. Open Golf Odds

Along with odds to win the 2023 U.S. Open, which I outline on those top-30 players, a more realistic prop bet option is top-finishing position bets.

2023 U.S. Open

Scottie Scheffler (+628) – Best U.S. Open finishes in five starts is T2 in 2022. The 26-year-old also finished T7 in 2021.  Elite strokes gained stats show Scheffler ranks No. 1 in SG: Total, Tee-to-Green, Ball Striking, Approach and Around the Green. His putting (96) has been holding him back from more wins, but that is a problem at the U.S. Open if his flat stick is not sharp.

2. Jon Rahm (+1005) – 2021 U.S. Open winner became the first player from Spain to win any USGA championship. The 28-year-old T12 in 2022 and T3 in 2019. Putting is top-tier but not quite as good on bentgrass. But those courses show top-10 stats or better in T2G, BS, OTT and Approach.

3. Rory McIlroy (+1120) – 2011 U.S. Open winner at Congressional. The 34-year-old has finished top-10 in each of the past four U.S. Opens. No. 2 in SG: Tee-to-Green, Ball Striking and top-12 in Approach, Around the Green, OTT and Total. His odds to win drifted up to +1500, but leading online sportsbooks have dropped him down.

Other player profiles plus stats I provided.

2023 U.S. Open Picks

Fairway’s Favorites: Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay, Jordan Spieth, Tyrrell Hatton
Fairway’s Longshots: Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Rose, Sungjae Im, Tommy Fleetwood, Corey Conners

Tournament Match-ups: Jon Rahm (+120) over Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy (+140) over Scheffler (BetMGM)

I’ve bet others in props and match-ups, and will add any others of interest and as time and research allows on Twitter.

Last year we did not fare well in U.S. Open posted match-ups, again against Scheffler, who finished T2. But top finishing position winners included Matt Fitzpatrick (who won) and Xander Schauffele. I’m going 2-for-1 against the favorite Scottie Scheffler again this year.

Following the U.S. Open, the PGA Tour players head to Connecticut for the Travelers Championship.
