Twins Win! Clinch AL Central – World Series Matchups And Odds

When the baseball season and playoffs finished last season, the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas posted 2019 World Series odds. The Minnesota Twins were 60-1 to win this year’s World Series. On Wednesday night in Detroit, the Twins clinched the AL Central division and head to the playoffs as the only team at odds of greater than 40-1 to make the MLB playoffs.

The rest of the teams were all in the top half of the league with odds to win the World Series. The A’s and Rays were the next longest shots, and also the two lowest payrolls in baseball to make the playoffs should they hold off the Indians for the two American League wild card spots.

The Twins season win total was also 84, and with their 98th win Wednesday, Minnesota has also exceeded their season win total by more games than any other team in baseball. The Twins are also the most profitable road team in baseball this season, rewarding their betting backers with more than 26 units of profit away from Target Field.

The A’s (95-63) and Rays (95-64) won Wednesday while the Indians (93-65) lost at Chicago as a -360 road favorite to fall 1.5 games back of the final AL wild card with four games remaining. The Athletics win was a dramatic one, as Matt Chapman hit a 2-run home run in the 9th off a (dumb)founded Angels pitcher to give Oakland a 3-2 lead and victory.

My recent article at Forbes provided the MLB playoff picture and World Series match-up odds and scenarios offered this week at FanDuel Sportsbook.
