RSM Classic Odds And Betting Preview

This week’s RSM Classic drew a solid field to Sea Island Resort in Georgia. The tournament is the final event of the calendar year, and players can earn FedEx Cup points for the 2021-22 season. I preview the RSM Classic odds at TheLines, and add golfers to watch and additional information you can bet on with key stats, course information and odds to win on golfers including the more than 15 players in the field that rank in the top 50 of the world.

That includes Russell Henley, who is one of the leading contenders this week at odds near +2500. We cashed in on Henley last week in a tournament match-up when Henley was a Round 1 co-leader and his opponent Harold Varner missed the cut badly after shooting the worst score of the day in the field on Thursday.

Henley cashed in a top 10 finish at last week’s Houston Open, which returned +400. He was a golfer to watch, along with Denny McCarthy who finished T11 at +18000 odds and returned +600 for a top 20 finish and just missed top 10 for +1800. While we like Henley this week, he’s getting more support at lower odds to win, and is favored more heavily in match-ups.

RSM Classic Odds

The RSM Classic is played on two courses, the par-70 Seaside Course and the par-72 Plantation Course (hole-by-hole descriptions, pictures, stats). The Seaside Course is near the Atlantic has ocean views and meanders through marshlands and lakes with water or marshes coming in play on most of the holes. Both weekend rounds are played on the Seaside Course following alternating rounds on both courses on Thursday and Friday prior to the 65-man cut.

Some key stats to consider including strokes gained include:

  • Fairways Gained
  • Greens in Regulation Gained
  • Birdies or Better Gained
  • SG: Ball Striking
  • SG: Approach
  • SG: Total (short courses)
  • SG: Putting (Bermuda and fast greens)

The greens are more difficult to read on the Seaside Course, which presents another challenge for golfers that are not quality putters.

Golfers to Watch

Corey Connors (+2500)

Connors returns to action off a layoff and is a good course fit at Seaside, where he shot 66-64 over the weekend last year to finish T10 and was No. 3 in the field in SG: Approach on the Seaside Course. Connors concludes a super season in which he posted eight top 10s and 19 top-25 finishes while ranking top 10 in greens in regulation and among the very best on the TOUR in driving accuracy at nearly 70%. His Tee-to-Green, Off-the-Tee, Ball Striking and Approach stats all rank top 10 in this field over his last 50 rounds. Connors is also top five in Good Drives Gained, Fairways Gained and GIR Gained, and a good week putting should have the Canadian cashing in similar to his top-five finish at nearby comp course Harbour Town.

Denny McCarthy (+10000)

Short-game specialist Denny McCarthy rewarded us last week as a golfer to watch with a strong final round and T11 finish in Houston at huge odds. He’s near triple-digit odds to win again this week where in eight rounds on the Seaside Course he ranks top 10 in SG: Putting, Short Game and Total. On trickier and more difficult to read greens, we trust McCarthy’s magic with the flat stick will payoff again. McCarthy finished T8 here two years ago, and with better ball striking and approach play, he can get into the mix and push towards the leaderboard again with another top-20 finish in range.
