Bethpage Black – hole-by-hole
Key stats and categories to consider for contenders at Bethpage
- Strokes Gained Tee-to-Green – most important. Hitting fairways and greens will be crucial for success, and distance is a big bonus
- Scrambling – many players will miss greens and have to get the ball up and down
- Putting inside 10 feet – poa aunna greens that are flat with little undulation
Longshots and 1st Time Major Winners that can Cash in at the Players Championship
I added some additional coverage with potential long shots that can contend and win in my article at Offshore Gaming Association along with more contenders to consider at longer odds in my PGA Championship coverage at Forbes.

72 hole Match-up Plays – Henrik Stenson (-110) over Bubba Watson and Louis Oosthuizen (-113) over Bubba Watson. We’ll dig into our bag for past Major winners in match-ups. Both Stenson (71.5%) and Oosthuizen (68%) are top-30 on Tour in driving accuracy, which will be another key factor this week. Bubba’s struggles with accuracy from the tee ranking No. 158 at 58.8% will make it tougher on him to hit greens consistently or score well.
Bethpage Black’s biggest keys for success and survival? Power, precision and self control will win out for players shooting for the Wanamaker Trophy on Sunday.
You can bet on it.
