The Eagles have gained steam to go over their season win total (10.5). Philly was 10-1 through Thanksgiving last season before the roof caved in and they failed to win the division losing 5-of-6 and they a blowout loss to the Buccaneers in their opening playoff game. Recall they were also 10-1 the year before on their way to the Super Bowl. Turnover troubles cost the Eagles last season as they ranked 26th in net EPA lost due to turnovers. Now they bring in a new, top veteran defensive coordinator in Vic Fangio, and PFF ranks the Eagles defensive line No. 3 with top talent. The secondary was an issue and sore spot last season, and they addressed NFL Eastthat with a 1st and 2nd round draft pick for defensive backs. New offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has tons of offensive talent and the No. 2 PPF offensive line ranking to start the season even with C Jason Kelce retiring. The Eagles have had one of the elite OL’s the past two years to give duel QB Jalen Hurts no excuses but to flourish after his stats and finish were off par last season. They also add top talented RB Saquon Barkley, who jumps from the division rival Giants to the Eagles, who have been top-2 in run-block win percentage the last two seasons. Philly was fourth in the league in Rush EPA per play last season, and they should return to a faster-paced offense with more pre-snap motion. The Eagles play four games with a rest advantage, and rank No. 2 in net rest edge this year while facing no opponents coming off a bye. Philadelphia also only faces three clear top 10 rated teams this season in Dallas 2x, Baltimore and Cincinnati. With 27 key players slated to hit free agency in 2025, this is the year the Eagles are expected to be all-in again and return to the Super Bowl after losing the 2022 Super Bowl to the Chiefs. Of course, QB Hurts needs to play better that last season and like he did under previous OC Shane Steichen while remaining healthy along with other top players.

Pro Football Focus Offensive Line Rankings Entering 2024 Season (Eagles No. 2, Cowboys No. 10)

Betting: The Eagles play four of their final five games at home with their final three against divsion opponents. Despite a new OC and potential adjustment period, the Eagles offense should still fly and be worth some bets over their team total scoring in many games with the Eagles offense slated to play the No. 8 easiest schedule of pass defenses in 2024. Plus, Philly’s defense is slated to play the No. 4 easiest schedule of pass offenses in 2024. More plays for the offense with improved defense. With Barkley the best RB in years for Philly, the Eagles rushing attack will also play the NFL’s No. 4 easiest schedule of run defenses this year. Week 2 vs. the Falcons looks like a good team total bet on the Eagles to score more (26+ points on MNF).

Stats and Notes – The Cowboys have won 12 regular season games each of the past three seasons. But the Cowboys playoff failures look like this. Nine teams have double-digit win totals since 2020. Seven have played in the conference championship game, but not the Cowboys. Dallas was mostly dominant last season and 9-3 into December and then pounded the Eagles 33-13, and finished with six wins by 20 or more points while also finishing No. 2 in point differental. Dallas finished NFC Eastwith 12 wins and a NFC East title, only to be blown out at home by the Green Bay Packers 48-32 for their first home loss of the season while failing again to rise up against a quality team. Go figure. Running back Ezekiel Elliott returns to the Cowboys, who have PFF’s No. 10 ranked OL to start the season with solid guards, but Sharp Football ranks the OL in the bottom quartile of the league. Big play WR CeeDee Lamb should shine again after Dallas led the league in passing yards per game last year from QB Dak Prescott, who is now in the final year of his contract. New defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer also returns to Dallas where he started as far back as DB coach for Deion Sanders. He inherits plenty of talent with the Cowboys finished finishing No. 5 in the NFL in Defensive DVOA last season, despite more injuries. Dallas had their third-straight season of plus double-digit turnover margin, and odds are that doesn’t continue.

Betting: The Cowboys are on a 6-0 SU/ATS run at home vs. the Eagles, and 6-1 ATS on the road at NY Giants with the last 5 games in the series going over the game total and ave. 60 points per game. Over the total is also 8-1 in the last 9 DAL-WASH meetings in Dallas. As you monitor teams health later in the season, not this most difficult schedule spot for the Cowboys playing their hated division rival in Week 12. Washington has 10 days prep off a Thursday night game, while the Cowboys have just 6 days off a MNF game vs. Houston. Teams are just 4-10 ATS in this spot, with a -6.9 ATS margin per game, and have won just 21% of those games against an expected win rate of 32%. Opponents have gone over their team total in 11 of those 14 instances (79%). Washington is currently lined as a home underdog of +3.5 in that contest, and the Skins/Commanders new head coach is Dan Quinn, who was the Cowboys defensive coordinator last season.

You can bet on it.
