MLB Opening Day 2025 Odds, Teams, Futures And Athletics
Major League Baseball Opening Day is March 27 and I’ll be watching and wagering from one of the biggest and best sportsbooks in Las Vegas at Circa Resort and Casino. Hall of Fame pitcher Greg Maddux will throw the first pitch in the sportsbook as the ‘Take me out to Vegas’ celebrations begins the watch and wager action on MLB Opening Day 2025.
I provide more MLB Opening Day coverage in Forbes with futures odds including World Series and season wins with additional information you can bet on when watching and wagering on baseball.
I also add a feature in Forbes on the Athletics, who have no city or state name this season as they play in West Sacramento. The A’s will move to Las Vegas and play on The Strip in 2028 with the new stadium construction starting this season.
This year the surveyed players on MLB teams picked the Athletics as the team that will surprise us the most in 2025.
The A’s were the darling of this year’s player responses. They received at least 10 more votes than any other team, a pretty impressive margin considering 18 different teams were mentioned.
“I think the A’s are going to be able to swing it,” one AL starting pitcher said. “Like, you look at their second half last year, they’re starting to put it together offensively. So yeah, I’d go with the A’s. I don’t know how deep they are on the mound, but I think their offense is going to be pretty solid.”
There will be a number of key games including many most anticipated on MLB Opening Day 2025 with the Athletics opening up at Seattle against the Mariners. The A’s payroll in 2025 is just $58 millon, No. 28 in MLB with the Dodgers ($322M) and Yankees ($312) the highest payrolls after those two teams met in the World Series last year.
While the rich get richer, don’t sell the Athletics short as they build a team that will be most competitive by the time they play in Las Vegas in 2028.
You can bet on it.
