MLB American League 2025 Baseball Odds And Key Games in August
Baseball Insights And MLB American League Key Games August 2025 With Information You Can Bet On
The push to the MLB playoffs continues into the final 50+ games of the 162-game regular season. The top teams in the American League continue to lead with the Tigers and Astros, but the Blue Jays overtook the Yankees in the NL East in July and Toronto and Boston posted the best records in the month. Four of the 10 teams in MLB with at least 60 wins into August are in the American League.
I’ve updated the standings and records below through the end of July from my original coverage at Off Shore Gaming Association, and the Tigers (+325) remain the slight favorite to win the AL Pennant followed by the overbet Yankees (+375), Astros (+425), Blue Jays (+500), Mariners (+600), Rangers (+1100) and Red Sox (+1400), according to odds from Caesars Sportsbook.
Plenty of deals were completed at the July 31 MLB trade deadline, and the Guardians and Royals are chasing the Mariners and Rangers for the final Wild Card spot currently on the outside of the six-team playoff picture.

The Boston Red Sox (17-7) and Toronto Blue Jays (18-8) had the best record in July, and I’ve provided those monthly records below along with key games in August and information you can bet on.

Key MLB American League 2025 August Series And Baseball Odds
Here are the MLB American League division records, top teams and matchups for August.
American League
AL Central
Detroit (64-46)
Cleveland (54-54)
Kansas City (54-55)
Minnesota (51-57)
Chicago (40-69)
July records: DET (11-14), CLE (14-12), KC (15-9), MIN (11-13), CHI (12-13)
The Tigers cooled off in July and are now tied with the Blue Jays for the best record in the American League heading into August. The Tigers still have the largest division lead in baseball at 9.0 games ahead of the Guardians, and Detroit (+81) has the second-best run differential in the AL behind the Yankees. Tigers ace Tarik Skubal (-450) is the Cy Young favorite on a pitching staff with a 3.78 ERA (5th in AL), but Detroit just lost their No. 2 starting pitcher Reece Olson for the rest of the season with a shoulder strain. Detroit (+325) is the current favorite to win the AL Pennant. The Guardians and Royals are +7500 and 3 games behind the Mariners for the final Wild Card. The Twins continue to disappoint and just traded top late-inning flamethrowing closer Jhoan Duran to the Phillies and then unloaded additional relievers on the final day of the July 31 trade deadline.
AL East
Toronto (64-46)
New York (60-49)
Boston (59-51)
Tampa Bay (54-56)
Baltimore (50-59)
July records: TOR (18-8), NYY (12-13), BOS (17-7), TB (7-18), BAL (13-12)
The Rays have fallen off badly in July and close the month 2-11 after getting swept by the Yankees. Tampa Bay leads MLB in stolen bases (141). The Blue Jays have taken over the division lead with an 18-8 month and the Red Sox (17-7) are just as hot in solid position for a Wild Card and in the division race. Toronto leads MLB in hitting with a .265 average. Yankees fans are voicing their frustration, but New York still leads MLB in Home Runs (174), Slugging (452), OPS (.783) and No. 1 in the AL in run differential (+99). The Bronx Bombers are +375 to win the AL Pennant and still just ahed of the Blue Jays despite trailing Toronto by 3.5 games in the AL East. Yankees slugger Aaron Judge still leads MLB with a .342 batting average and .711 slugging percentage, but is no longer the AL MVP favorite despite 37 HR and 85 RBIs with Seattle’s Cal Raleigh slightly ahead.
AL West
Houston (62-47)
Seattle (58-52)
Texas (57-53)
Los Angeles (53-56)
Athletics (48-63)
July records: HOU (12-13), SEA (14-12), TEX (16-9), LAA (12-14), A’s (13-11)
The Astros pitching staff leads the MLB in strikeouts (1,057) and No. 3 in the AL with a 3.69 Earned Run Average (ERA). The Rangers (3.25) staff leads MLB in ERA, Batting Average Against (BAA) at 2.26, WHIP (1.16) and Texas had the best run-differential in July and currently +66 overall (No. 3). The Rangers have allowed a league-low 374 runs. Next closest is the Royals (398). Clearly the Rangers are a better team than their record, and pro bettors pounced on them to win the most games in August driving their +3000 odds to +1300. If you missed it, you have other options to bet the Rangers like their adjusted season win total (O/U 83.5/84.5), as Texas looks like a good bet to move up having also averaged 5.8 runs per game in July. A tough early August schedule with games at home against the Yankees and Phillies after opening the month at Seattle, but the Mariners have struggled to drive in runs with men in scoring position. But not Mariners MVP favorite, catcher Cal Raleigh, who leads MLB with 41 HR’s and 87 RBIs. The Athletics get mention with their Rookie of the Year favorite, big left-handed 1B slugger Nick Kurtz with top rookie shortstop Jacob Wilson making the AL All-Star team but on the injured list after breaking his forearm last month.
