March Madness 2025: How Do No. 1 Seeds Do In The Sweet 16

I’ve tracked men’s NCAA Tournament data and watched and wagered on matchups for decades while living in Las Vegas since the year 2000. I started updating No. 1 seeds years ago and most recently provided an article and update on this site (VSZ) in 2022. Now I’ve added more No. 1 seed coverage and data in my sports betting and college basketball NCAA Tournament coverage at Forbes.

Read the full details on Forbes, and I’ve provided some below.

NCAA Tournament No. 1 Seeds

No. 1 seeds are now 91-29 SU in the Sweet 16 since 1985, including 76-29 SU vs. teams seeded No. 4 or No. 5 but just 3-6 the last three years. Until 2015, No. 1 seeds were getting bounced out of this round going back to 2010. That trend has returned the last three years (3-6), which followed a run of 18-1 SU and 14-5 ATS for No. 1 seeds in the Sweet 16 from 2015-2021.
