Longshots To Target at 3M Open
The PGA Tour pros are ready to tee off at the TPC Twin Cities for the 3M Open. In our initial 3M Open tournament preview, we outlined some of the odds, favorites taking money and key stats of interest when handicapping the event. My early 3M Open coverage at TheLines listed the players and favorites, power rankings, course info and stats along with a full listing of odds that would be released Monday.
I added another article on players that could surprise at the 3M Open, knowing at last year’s inaugural event Matthew Wolff (+12500) won at long odds and at least five other players priced at +60000 or greater finished top-10. The tournament saw 52 players shoot triple-digits under par in a birdie fest at TPC Twin Cities.

So we added more insight and analysis on players to consider further down the odds board with some details on some mid-raged priced players. Not all offer value, as there are popular players like Erik van Rooyen, who is priced near +3500 when he’s been triple digit odds in many recent events this year.
So I chip in just one Fairway Foursome this week in our staking plan to win outright and add one marquee tournament match-up on these pages. Over the last three PGA Tournaments, we’re on a 5-0 run on tournament match-ups after a 3-0 sweep last week at The Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village that included an outright tournament winner on Jon Rahm.
Faiway’s Foursome: Redman, Burns, Gordon, Wise (Top-10 odds range from +400 to +1000).
Tournament Match-up: Finau (-120) over Fleetwood
Doc Redman (+5000 at BetMGM): Missed the cut here last year but has solid stats models including Top 15 in SG: Approach after falling from last week’s cut. A solid tee-to-green game and three Top 21 finishes in three previous tournaments for 22-year-old.
Sam Burns (+4500 at DraftKings): Tied for seventh in last year’s 3M Open. Another young gun and huge hitter who has finished Top 30 in his three recent events since Tour hiatus. His driver as a big weapon has him ranked Top 15 in SG: Off-the-Tee.
Good luck as you shoot for birdies, avoid the hazards, rough and bogeys, and stay on course in search of the green.
The PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco is just two weeks away (Aug. 6-9).
