Horse Racing News, Notes and Daily Tips From Belmont Park, Del Mar and Keeneland for Blue Grass Stakes
The biggest days at the races are the weekends, where the top tracks in America host the biggest stakes races. The Triple Crown races draw tremendous interest from fans, media and horse handicappers and bettors. From the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs to the Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park, there is plenty of additional racing that draws interest and betting from many of the top tracks listed below. That includes the $600,000 Blue Grass Stakes (G2) at Keeneland on Sat., July 10, a Kentucky Derby qualifying points race (100-40-20-10) along with the Grade 1 Ashland, a Kentucky Oaks prep race with the top four finishers also receiving 100-40-20-10 points. Six graded stakes overall at Keeneland on July 10 as part of the tracks abbreviated 5-day Summer Meet.
Each year culminates with the Breeders’ Cup World Championships the first weekend in November. The best race horses in the world compete for million dollar or more purses as jockeys, trainers and owners guide them to racing riches. The Sport of Kings becomes a world spectacle at the Breeders’ Cup, and Santa Anita (10) and Churchill Downs (9) have hosted the event more than any other tracks. The 2020 Breeders’ Cup is at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky on Nov. 6-7.

Keeneland

I’m going with the maturing and rapidly improving Art Collector (5/1) to win the Blue Grass Stakes. His bloodlines are tremendous as a son of Bernardini and grandson of A.P. Indy – both Triple Crown race winners and Breeders’ Cup Classic top finishers. Get on him now for any futures bets on the Kentucky Derby, as his odds will drop sharply with a Blue Grass win. A victory will give Art Collector a shot to Run for the Roses in the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs Sept. 5.
