Fountain of Youth 2024 Field, Odds, Picks On Road To The Kentucky Derby

The Road to the Kentucky Derby continues with more major championship series races into March and April ahead of the May 4 Kentucky Derby. That includes the Fountain of Youth 2024, along with the Gotham on March 2, and the San Felipe moved to March 3.

I’m not digging deep into the horses, past performance charts, videos or betting much on horse racing. But I cover the ‘Sport of Kings’ for Forbes and other outlets, while networking with some of my contacts and horse racing handicappers to bring you more insight and information you can bet on.

Kentucky Derby Championship Series Prep Races And Tracker

Check out my Fountain of Youth race coverage in Forbes, as I also correspond with Gulfstream Park track announcer Pete Aiello, who I featured in 2020 in Forbes, and met last year at the 2023 Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita. Pete adds his racing insight, picks and additional information you can bet on plus my added picks and more from Horse Racing Nation and their Super Screener big races guide.

Fountain Of Youth 2024 Field And Odds

“We’ve really had some quality horses take part in our preps so far this year,” Pete said from Gulfstream. He noted that Fierceness, last Novembers Breeders’ Cup Juvenile champion, was beaten as the 1/5 favorite and finished 3rd in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes Feb. 3.

“Now we have two other high quality horses in Dornoch (2/1) and Locked (5/2) making their 3-year-old debuts in the Fountain of Youth,” Aiello said. “Dornoch’s effort in the Remsen last out was flattered when Sierra Leone (who he beat) was ULTRA impressive winning the Risen Star Stakes at the Fair Grounds a couple weeks ago.”

Aiello adds he’s not convinced Dornock or Locked will be cranked up 100% in their first start of the season, which could open it up for Speakeasy (9/2) or Victory Avenue (4/1).

“Victory Avenue just lost to Speakeasy and enters the race as a maiden (not yet won a race). Seems crazy, right?” Aiello notes that the trainer of Victory Avenue, Gustavo Delgado, ran Bodexpress in the Florida Derby as a maiden in 2019 and finished 2nd at 71-1 odds.

In 2024, I’ll update some of the Kentucky Derby championship series races and coverage here after posting more on Forbes. Then it’s the Kentucky Derby, Triple Crown races and other big weekend races with the 2024 Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar on my list to attend again as a media member.
