The South Carolina Gamecocks ( 9-2 SU, 5-6 ATS ) host their state rival Clemson Tigers ( 10-1 SU, 6-5 ATS ) on November 30, 2013.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 ET and ESPN2 will carry the TV coverage of this rivalry game from Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC.

ACC vs. SEC showdown in South Carolina highlights FairwayJay’s Free college football selection November 30 with the high-flying Clemson offense against the (usually) superior Spurrier SC defense.  Both teams have identical records as when they met late last season; a 27-17 South Carolina win as a TD underdog – a big Top Play winner for us last season on Rivalry Weekend.  South Carolina has cold-Cocked the Tigers the last 4 years by an average margin of 17 ppg.

Hated Rivals – South Carolina & Clemson

South Carolina’s defense is not the superior unit this season as both teams stats on nearly identical defensively.  The Gamecocks allow 344 YPG and 5.4 YPPL; nearly identical season-long stats to those allowed against stronger SEC opponents. The Tigers defense is stronger than last season, as this year’s team is allowing 20 PPG and 353 YPG to match South Carolina. This year’s Clemson pass defense is much stronger, allowing 200 YPG and just 52% completions and 29% conversion on third down.  The Tigers defense has forced 26 turnovers and they are +10 in turnover margin this season.

Clemson averages 42 PPG and 515 YPG on offense – nearly identical to last season’s offensive numbers. The QB-WR combination of seniors Tahj Boyd and Sammy Watkins is the ACCs best, as Boyd has passed for 3,248 yards (295/game) and 37 total TDs while Watkins has 1,144 yards receiving (104/game) and 10 touchdowns. Boyd completes over 67% of his passes and has running game support with 178 YPG to give them a solid shot at the upset in this years rivalry game.

South Carolina averages 465 YPG on offense – nearly 90 yards more than last season. The Gamecocks are balanced with 211 YPG rushing and 254 YPG passing with senior QB Connor Shaw very efficient with 20 TD passes and just 1 interception. South Carolina has not faced a passing attack as strong as Clemson’s since early September when they were beaten 41-30 by Georgia. The Gamecocks allowed 536 yards that game with Georgia QB Aaron Murray passing for over 300 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Clemson beat that same Georgia team the week before 38-35 and held QB Murray without a TD pass.

South Carolina has won 17-straight home games at this site and head coach Spurrier has won and covered over 60% of his home games at South Carolina.  However, this should be a closely contested contest this season and we prefer the points being offered on Clemson as the avenging rivalry ‘Dog.
