Bolt d’Oro Early Kentucky Derby Favorite Leading into Breeders’ Cup Juvenile
The Road to the Kentucky Derby has completed four qualifying races, and Frontrunner Stakes winner Bolt ‘d Oro has emerged as the early favorite for the 2018 Kentucky Derby. Here’s the list of the first four Derby prep races that award qualifying points to the Kentucky Derby with these winners receiving 10 points.
Sept. 16: Iroquois – The Tabulator
Sept. 30: Frontrunner – Bolt d’ Oro
Oct. 7: Champagne – Firenze Fire
Oct. 7: Breeders’ Futurity – Free Drop Billy
The next Kentucky Derby prep race is at the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, when the best 2-year-olds in training compete in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Nov. 4 at Del Mar. The winner will receive 20 points towards qualifying for the Kentucky Derby with the other three finishers in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place receiving 8, 4 and 2 points.
There are four Kentucky Derby Future Wager pools where fans have an opportunity to bet early in the racing season on horses they believe will earn a spot in the starting gate and ultimately win the 2018 Kentucky Derby. The future pool dates are:
Pool 1: Nov. 23-26, 2017
Pool 2: Feb. 9-11, 2018
Pool 3: March 9-11, 2018
Pool 4: April 6-8, 2018
There is also one Kentucky Oaks Future Pool March 9-11, 2018.
However, fans wishing to bet on the winner of the 2018 Kentucky Derby may do so at the Wynn Las Vegas Race and Sports Book, and follow the odds and changes as they are posted by the Race and Sports book Operations Director Johnny Avello and his staff.
The odds change as race results and betting action happens, and the Wynn first released odds on September 21 with more than 250 horses to bet on for the 2018 Kentucky Derby.
