College Football Week 8 Top-25 Match-ups
College Football Week 8 Betting Breakdown of the Marquee Match-ups Between Top-25 Teams
Each week for Bet America I provide a preview and betting breakdown of the key games involving Top-25 teams. The Associated Press (AP) poll and coaches poll draw attention each week, and starting the end of October, the college football playoff poll will be posted each week for the rest of the season.
Here is the link to the Bet America Extra sports feed and my college football Week 8 preview and betting breakdown of the four games involving AP Top-25 teams. Not all the games each week involving Top-25 teams are worth wagering, but I chip in my thoughts and analysis for you to consider and add some handicapping and betting insight.
The SEC Top-25 showdown this week is in Baton Rouge, where LSU is up to No. 6 in the college football polls and tackles No. 22 Mississippi State. This game and selection just missed being included in my weekly underdog picks provided at the Offshore Gaming Association. College teams can’t play at a peak level every week, and especially when going through the grind of a tough league schedule. That’s where the human element of emotion comes in, and while we cashed with LSU last week and included them on our card and contests in their 36-16 upset of No. 2 Georgia, the Tigers are likely to suffer a little letdown this week and rested and ready Mississippi State off its bye week can capitalize.
No. 22 Mississippi State at No. 6 LSU (-6.5) – The MSU Bulldogs trounced the LSU Tigers last year 37-7, and situation favors Mississippi State this year. The Bulldogs travel to Baton Rouge following a bye week, and also catch LSU in letdown and lookahead spot off the Tigers win over Georgia and next week’s showdown at home against No. 1 Alabama. Low total and ‘Dog role also points us to Mississippi State, who has held 5-of-6 opponents to 13 points or less and the Bulldogs defense bites hard allowing just 297 YPG and 4.7 yards per play. We cashed in with LSU last week in the big upset of Georgia, but Tigers not in a good situation this week against a defensive dog that also has a 1.2 net yards per play advantage.
