College Football 2025 Week 9 Top 25 Preview And Picks

Some huge games and results in college football Week 8 action impacted the conference races, Top 25 and road to the College Football Playoff. Now three more Top 25 matchups are set for Saturday, Oct. 25 and all involve SEC teams. That includes Vanderbilt, who is up to No. 10 in the Top 25 after taking down LSU last Saturday.

  • No. 8 Ole Miss vs. No. 13 Oklahoma
  • No. 10 Vanderbilt vs. No. 15 Missouri
  • No. 3 Texas A&M vs. No. 20 LSU

Just seven teams remain undefeated after UNLV from the Mountain West lost at Boise State.

Navy, Georgia Tech, BYU, Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M.

Navy leads the tight and most competitve American Athletic Conference (AAC) and the Middies are 4-0 in AAC play. South Florida and Tulane are 3-0 and four teams 6-1 overall. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) has been turned upside down with huge preseason favorite Clemson now 3-4 after opening the season in the top 5 of the AP Top 25 Poll. Georgia Tech is unbeaten and 4-0 in ACC play with Virginia 3-0 and 6-1 overall and SMU also 3-0 and 5-2 overall in the ACC race after crushing Clemson 35-24. Louisville (5-1/2-1) is still in the race after taking down Miami 24-21 with the Hurricanes (5-1/1-1) having tough ACC road games remaining at SMU and Pittsburgh (5-2/3-1).

College football 2025 Week 9

Brigham Young (BYU) leads the Big 12 at 4-0 with Cincinnati (6-1/4-0), Houston (6-1/3-1), Arizona State (5-2/3-1) and Texas Tech (6-1/3-1) in the conference chase after ASU picked up a huge win over Texas Tech 26-22 as a 7.5 point home ‘Dog in Tempe. Ohio State (7-0/4-0) and Indiana (7-0/4-0) are riding high and the Buckeyes are on a bye this week before tackling most disappointing Penn State (3-4/0-4) on Nov. 1 with the Nittany Lions a preseason No. 2 in the AP Top 25 Poll. Oregon (6-1/3-1) is still in the mix to return to the Big Ten Championship Game. Michigan, Iowa, USC, Minnesota and Northwestern are all 5-2 overall and 3-1 in Big Ten play with Minnesota at Iowa a key conference game this Saturday. And UCLA (3-4/3-1) is on a most improbable 3-game winning streak after firing their completely clueless head coach and responding under new coaches and coordinators.

The SEC is loaded as expected with Texas A&M (7-0/4-0) on top this week and Alabama (6-1/4-0) the other unbeaten team in conference play after winning four straight games over Top 25 opponents including Tennessee last week with another WTF moment for underdog bettors.
