‘Chosen’ Rosen Leads Remarkable Rally as UCLA Wins 45-44

Trailing 44-10 in 2nd Half, Rosen Rallies UCLA to Victory over Texas A&M

In a script out of Hollywood, quarterback Josh Rosen took the lead role Sunday night at the Rose Bowl. The junior QB showed his poise and persistence after the Bruins had been buried for 2 1/2 quarters. But in a most remarkable and improbable comeback, Rosen passed for 292 yards and 4 TD’s in the fourth quarter to lead the Bruins to a thrilling comeback victory after trailing 44-10 late in the third quarter.

“We were an inch from losing this game 10 times,” Rosen said.

For the game, Rosen completed 35 of 59 passes for a career-high 491 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in his first game since injuring his shoulder last October

Some good fortune aided the Bruins comeback, as Rosen floated a pass that should have been intercepted but instead went for a 42-yard touchdown to Darren Andrews to make it 44-31. The next drive, he threw off his back foot with a defender in his face to complete a 16-yard touchdown to Theo Howard. But after forcing another A&M 3-and-out, Rosen got one final chance to drive the length of the field. He moved the team down the field again, and when he faked spiking the ball with less than 45 seconds remaining and lofted a 10 yard pass to the corner of the end zone, Jordan Lasley pulled it in for the go-ahead touchdown. A wild celebration at the Rose Bowl ensued, as fans witness the greatest comeback win in UCLA history and nearly the greatest in college football history (35 points).

The victory was sweet, but not as much for UCLA betting backers as the Bruins failed to cover the point spread. However, over the total bettors were rewarded as were team total wagers from a Vegas Sports Zone tipster. A cool comeback indeed.
