I’ve been reading, writing and researching plenty in preparation for the upcoming college football season. That includes providing season previews for various publications and online sites. Buckeyes say they’re good!
Recall last season that Ohio State lost preseason Big Ten Player of the Year in QB Braxton Miller to a season-ending shoulder injury before the first game. That sent shock waves through college football community and sports books as they adjusted their season win total odds and vig while also sending the Buckeye’s National Championship odds soaring from 12-1 to 50-1 at the newly named Westgate in Las Vegas (@LVSuperBook). Following a Week 2 home loss to Virginia Tech as a double-digit favorite, the Buckeyes season looked doomed. Ohio State then rattled off 10-straight wins followed by a 59-0 blowout victory over Wisconsin in the Big Ten title game to land in the FBS Playoff – amid controversy. From there the Buckeyes beat big odds taking down #1 Alabama and #3 Oregon each as at least a TD underdog to win the National Championship.
Ohio State enters the 2015 season as the near unanimous choice to repeat as National Champions. Will the Buckeyes deliver or suffer a similar fate as unanimous choice Florida State last season while being continuously over- valued in the betting market?
