Valero Texas Open 2026 Golf Odds, Preview, Picks And Props
The first major of the year at The Masters is just one week away, but some top PGA Tour pros are tuning up for the first major of the year by playing in this week’s Valero Texas Open 2026 event. A total of 13 of the top 40 players in the Official World Golf Rankings will tee it up at the Greg Norman-designed Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio starting April 2. The golf tournament also runs alongside the NCAA Tournament Final Four starting Saturday, April 4 in Indianpolis.
TPC San Antonio – Oaks Course
- 7,438 yards
- Par 72
A strong tee-to-green game sets players up for success at the TPC San Antonio Oaks Course, and oak trees heavily-line the fairway’s. But it’s the irons that are most vital, expecially mid-to-long irons from 150-200 yards. The last three winners of the Valero Texas Open ranked 2nd, 1st and 1st in strokes gained Approach – Brian Harman (-9), Akshay Bhatia (-20) and Corey Conners (-15) with the latter two also ranking 1st in Greens in Regulation. Jordan Spieth ranked 4th in Approach when the Dallas native and Univ. of Texas golfer won the event in 2021. Each of the other top 3 finishers the last three years have also ranked among the leadersin Approach and GIR, including Maverick McNealy and Denny McCarthy. Harman’s win last year with a single-digit under par score had windier conditions, and wind will play a factor again this year in the forecast, along with a greater than 60% chance of rain Saturday.
Valero Texas Open winners the last 10 years have gained 45.8% of their strokes gained total with approach shots.
The PGA Tour average for winners in that same time span is 35.4%.

Tournament Match-ups: (Pass)
Late start this week with some personal commitments, so no tournament matchups or first round picks. I’ll review more and consider posting alternate round matchups into the weekend.
Tournament matchup posted this year are 11-3 following The Players Championship winner, and includes a 4-0 sweep at the Cognizant Classic on our biggest card of the season.
Next week it’s The Masters, where Rory McIlroy won his first green jacket last year in a playoff over Justin Rose. I’m working on more Masters player profiles, like I provided last year in Forbes and other outlets.
