2025 Bank Of Utah Championship Golf Betting Preview And Picks

The FedExCup Fall schedule continues with the fourth of seven events as the PGA Tour pros head to Ivins, Utah for the Bank of Utah Championship at Black Desert Resort. The red rock mountain scenery and picturesque viewing in the midst of a lava field and high altitude 3,100 feet above sea level has the golf course playing closer to 7,000 yards than the 7,421-yard scorecard for the par 71 course.

I provide a tournament preview for another online site and provide some stats, odds, picks and information you can bet on below.

The tournament near St. George, Utah in the Greater Zion region and just 120 miles from Las Vegas. I have a media invite to attend, which is looking less likey with a tight schedule and commitments. But the Bank of Utah Championship is one to attend at some point with spectacular views and red rock mountains.

Matt McCarty won last year’s inaugural event by 3-shots with a 23-under par, 261 total. A total of 10 players shot 16-under-par or better, but even with light winds, this year’s champion will likely not go as low as McCarty, so ‘over’ 262.5 is a bet to consider as you watch and wager on the event.

Five top-50 players in the world rankings and 10 of the top 70 are playing this week at Black Desert Resort and golf course, the last of 93 courses designed by Tom Weiskopf prior to his untimely death in 2022.

The wide, forgiving bentgrass fairways assure many drivers are in play, along with reachable par 5’s. Natural hazards along the fairways do force players to keep the ball in play if they plan to attack the oversized bentgrass greens. Stray balls will find rocky, black lava outcrops as the course was built directly into an ancient basaltic lava field. The players have to pick really good lines and hit their selected targets, as there are more blind shots than they are accustomed to seeing on Tour.

Charles Schwab Challenge 2024Fairway’s Favorites: Kitayama, Hoey, Yu, Bezuidenhout
Fairway’s Longshots: Meissner, Fishburn, Montgomery, Mouw

Tournament Match-ups: Mac Meissner (-110) over Ryan Gerard – DraftKings

Among the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship favorites, here are some to target with strokes gained stats and notes in the player profiles.

Alex Noren – The 43-year-old Swede has been Putting very well while also gaining strokes off the Tee and on Approach. His accuracy and strength in keeping the ball in play pays off. Noren has a top-6 finish at TPC Scottsdale and top-3 at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas the past few years.

Kurt Kitayama – The Las Vegas resident has played well in the desert, and has improved his ball striking more recently in the Fall Swing. The 32-year-old has high-ranking recent form in Strokes Gained Approach, Off the Tee and Birdies or Better Gained stats. Kitayama won the 3M Open this summer in low-scoring conditions, and his breakthrough win at the 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational showed the strength of his driving and overall game to win over a top-rated field.

Rico Hoey – The 30-year-old from the Philippines learned his craft in California and golfed in college at USC. He’s becoming a top-tier driver and long iron player while improving his once horrid putting with a switch to a long putter. Hoey finished T21 at this event in 2024, and an early tee-time in Thursday’s opening round with less wind makes Hoey a first round leader candidate at longer odds along with the golfer below, CB.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout – The 31-year-old South African is in solid form with a pair of top-10 finishes in two FedExCup Fall events. His stats profile is a solid fit to potentially cash in for his first PGA Tour victory. Bezuidenhout’s Driving Accuracy strength and Birdies or Better and in bunches scoring ability could shine through this week. His Proximity to the hole strength inside 150 yards along with solid Putting makes him a player to target. Bezuidenhout finished top-5 in Phoenix at the Weiskopf-designed TPC Scottsdale this year, and a DP World Tour win at altitude in South Africa.

Kevin Yu (Yu Chun-an) – The 27-year-old Taiwanese pro was previously a very poor putter. He’s improved greatly the past year while currently top-15 in this field in Putting over his last eight tournaments. Currently No. 61 in the FedExCup Fall standings, Yu can move up sharply with his game strength in Driving and Off the Tee plus longer irons and better Approach play. Time for Yu to break through again following his first PGA Tour victory in last year’s Sanderson Farms Championship.

William Mouw – A lesser-known longshot who hits the ball long and can putt lights out for birdies, 25-year-old Mouw is Top 25 in Total Driving and Off the Tee this year.

Golf continues to be a most popular sport to bet. The menu of betting options available at many leading online sportsbooks provides birdie opportunities for fans looking to score as they watch and wager on preferred PGA Tour players of interest each week.

You can bet on it.
