Zurich Classic 2025 Team Event Betting Preview
The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is an 80-team event and defending champions Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are top golfers and the prohibitive favorites with McIlroy returning to action following his win at The Masters. I chip-in some Zurich Classic 2025 team event golf coverage of the tournament in Louisiana in my PGA Tour coverage in Forbes.

How the Zurich Classic works
Team Format Rules:
- Rounds 1 and 3 are Four-Ball (Best-Ball)
- Rounds 2 and 4 are Foursomes (Alternate Shot)
For Four-Ball play, the players on each team will each play their ball throughout the entirety of the round. The best score between the two players is recorded.
During Foursomes play, players will rotate tee shots. One player will hit the tee shots on all the odd-numbered holes, and the other will hit the tee shot on even-numbered holes. The total strokes taken will result in the team’s score for that hole.
Making the Cut: The low 33 teams and ties following Round 2 continue to play into the weekend on Saturday and Sunday.
Both players on the winning team receive a two-year winner’s exemption and eligibility into Invitational fields. Including the Tournament of Champions, THE PLAYERS Championship and also the PGA Championship plus Signature Events.

My golf coverage and research includes use and references from sites at Golf Stats along with Fantasy National, and Data Golf. I gain added information and betting news from other sites and golf analysts. That includes top golf insider Justin Ray Golf, who contributes to PGA Tour (dot com) and The Athletic with insightful stats. The site GolfStats has also has player performance charts and a player competitor tool plus added stats and previews.
More than a decade ago I was a lead golf handicapper and analyst on a popular sports handicapping radio show out of Las Vegas whose picks were provided to a betting syndicate. I continue my golf coverage in a different format, and provide my experience and intuitive feel for the game and betting acumen to provide golf picks and chip-in added insight with information you can bet on.
Having been a proven performer for decades, I’ve posted picks in 2021 and 2022 on Vegas Sports Zone and tournament match-ups were 41-27.
2022 PGA Tour tournament match-up picks finished 20-12 and concluded with the TOUR Championship.
The 2021 tournament match-ups finished 21-15 following a 17-5 start January through May.
