Sony Open 2023 Odds And Picks

The Sony Open is the first full-field PGA Tour event of the year, and I’ve chipped in Sony Open 2023 odds and coverage at Forbes with a tournament preview and information you can bet on. I add additional tournament coverage, field, odds and favorites along with dark horses in my chip-ins for FanDuel and The Duel Sports.

Back in November, we hit a dark horse pick and bet on Adam Svensson (+13000 or 130/1) when he won the RSM Classic.

Check out the articles for more stats and strokes gained data as you shoot for fairways and green in your pursuit of profit at the Sony Open in heavenly Honolulu.

My golf coverage and research includes use and references from sites at Golf Stats along with Fantasy National and Data Golf. I gain added information and betting news with fantasy golf insight from FanShare Sports and other sites and golf analysts. That includes top golf insider Justin Ray Golf, who contributes to PGA Tour (dot com) and The Athletic with insightful stats. The site Golf Stats has also has player performance charts and a player competitor tool plus added stats and previews.

More than a decade ago I was a lead golf handicapper and analyst on a popular sports handicapping radio show out of Las Vegas whose picks were provided to a betting syndicate. I continue my golf coverage in a different format, and provide my experience and intuitive feel for the game and betting acumen to provide golf picks and chip-in added insight with information you can bet on.

Update: J.J. Spaun (-10) is one stoke off the lead through 36 holes after making a bogey 6 on his final hole Friday. My pre-tournament dark horse analysis on The Duel Sports included Spaun, Harris English (T21 halfway, double-bogey 7 on closing hole) and Brian Harman (T31).

17 of the last 24 Sony Open winners also played the week prior in the Sentry Tournament of Champions. J.J. Spaun finished T-5 last week in the TOC, and the 32-year-old also has three top-15 finishes in his previous three events to close 2022 including two on similar coastal courses. He’s missed the cut in his last three visits to Waialae, but current form, stats and his accuracy and tee-to-green game suggests he can go well.

I won my only Round 1 head to head bet with Brian Harman over Billy Horschel.

The three tournament favorites all missed the cut: Tom Kim, Sungjae Im and Jordan Spieth.
