Betting The 2022 U.S. Open At The Country Club in Brookline
The USGA is hoping one of the PGA Tour golfers wins the 2022 U.S. Open, you would think, instead of an LIV Golf participant who is supporting the Saudi-backed golf series. You can check out some of my coverage for the toughest test in golf with 2022 U.S. Open odds, picks and preview at Forbes. I add more player profiles and picks with additional information in my chip-ins at The Duel Sports for FanDuel and other sites plus PlayUSA platforms as I continue to chip-in sports betting coverage and content with information you can bet on.
More coverage and U.S. Open chip-ins for Offshore Gaming Association, where I add match-ups to follow between current PGA Tour players and those now playing in the LIV Golf series.

The Country Club hole-by-hole
Our posted tournament match-ups have been profitable again this year. Currently 14-6 in 2022 after our most recent winner Billy Horschel won easy as an underdog and ate the whole pie in winning the Memorial Tournament. Last year we were 17-6 heading into the 2021 U.S. Open, which has been my most difficult major to handicap and win over the nearly two decades of posting profitable matchup picks. We did go 1-1 on tournament match-ups last year with an underdog winner.

Some player profiles I provided for FanDuel and The Duel Sports.
Matt Fitzpatrick U.S. Open Prediction & Pick
Fitzpatrick has the game to do well in the U.S. Open and this week’s challenge appears to be a good fit. The 27-year-old Englishman ranks top 5 on Tour in driving accuracy (69.26%), and his combination of Good Drives Gained and Fairways Gained ranks him among the leaders in the field.
Matt Fitzpatrick is solid across the board in Strokes Gained stats, and his performances throughout 2022 have been excellent. Matt has seven top-10 finishes in his last 11 starts which includes the PGA Championship.
Fitzpatrick is still shooting for his first major title win, but he’s a leading contender by all stats models and his performances on the golf course.
Fitzpatrick to finish top-20 (+100) looks like a winning even money wager, and he’s getting interest for top-10 (+190).
Xander Schauffele U.S. Open Prediction & Pick
Schauffele has finished top 20 in four straight PGA Tour events entering the U.S. Open including three with stronger fields plus the PGA Championship. His worst score over that stretch is 73, and the 28-year-old has never shot worse than 74 in the U.S. Open. Schaffele’s Strokes Gained stats are very solid across the board, as are his Fairways and Good Drives Gained stats and Par 4 efficiency 450-500 yards.
Taking his ability, stats and proven play in the U.S. Open into account, a Xander Schauffele top-20 finish (-115) looks like a best bet. Xander profiles as a leading contender who could breakthrough for a major win (+2100).
Despite three top-10 finishes in the last three U.S. Opens and hurting us in a tournament match-up in last year’s U.S. Open, I’m fading Louis Oosthuizen again in this year’s American major.
2022 U.S. Open Picks
Fairway’s Favorites: McIlroy, Rahm, Schauffele, Lowry, Finau
Fairway’s Longshots: Im, Fleetwood, Ancer, Wise, Munoz
Tournament Match-ups: Jon Rahm (-108) over Scottie Scheffler (FanDuel), Rory McIlroy (-120) over Scheffler (BetMGM), Xander Schauffele (-110) over Patrick Cantlay (BetMGM)
I’ve bet others in props and match-ups, including Im as underdog over Zalatoris, Hatton as underdog over Oosthuizen, Finau even over Niemann.
Following the U.S. Open, the PGA Tour players head to Connecticut for the Travelers Championship.
More updates as able and information you can bet on as the U.S. Open continues.
Post U.S. Open update: An 0-2-1 result on tournament match-ups drops the 2022 YTD posted match-up record to 14-8. Some winning finishing position bets and forecasts, including U.S. Open winner Matt Fitzpatrick and our key golfer Xander Schauffele finishing top-15 were good shots, but Xander shot 75 Saturday and pushed our match-up. The fade on Louis Oosthuizen (cut) was on the mark, but couldn’t get him in match-ups. McIlroy finishes T5 as one of nine players to finish under par, but fails to get us a match-up winners as Scheffler goes good again for T2. Rahm butchers final round to finish T12.
