WSOP Updates: Record Turnout Expected At 2022 World Series of Poker
The World Series of Poker moves to the Las Vegas Strip for the 2022 edition and 53rd running of the event. I chip-in some coverage as credentialed media, and try my hand in some summer poker events as a proven player who played and cashed in WSOP events in previous years.
My pre-WSOP Poker Players Guide to Navigating the World Series of Poker is available to review on Forbes. This year’s WSOP is held at Paris and Bally’s Las Vegas, which is being rebranded as ‘Horseshoe’ yet this year.
I also add a World Series of Poker on a Budget guide for US Poker that lists the 18 tournaments to target for $1,000 or less. That includes the opening ‘Housewarming‘ event that has four starting flights June 2-5 on the opening weekend of the WSOP.
Check out the 2022 WSOP Schedule and 88 live bracelet events plus more than two dozen WSOP online poker tournaments.
Follow along as I chip-in and hopefully chip-up with more coverage and play with insight and information you can bet on from the World Series of Poker and other summer poker tournaments from major Las Vegas resorts and poker rooms.
WSOP updates on Twitter @WSOP, @PokerNews and @PokerGo
June 5 – The final flight D of the $500 entry, $5 million guarantee Housewarming Event #5 added more than 7,200 players to bring the total entries to a WSOP record 20,000+. I’ll post final entries as receive. I played in the event in flight C, and made it through to Day 2 on June 6. Cash payouts started with the top 15% of players from each flight, and the top 5% of players advanced to Day 2. That leaves approx. 1,000 players remaining into Day 2 and I have a slightly above average stack of $1.36 million chips with blinds at 25,000 / 50,000 and a 50,000 ante. Play is fast and I’ll update my results following Day 2 as we cash in and shoot for more birdies and green on the poker felt.
