PGA Tour Odds: Shootout Ahead In 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson

Dallas residents and former Texas Longhorns Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth headline the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson. This week’s event at TPC Craig Ranch just North of Dallas drew nine top 20 players including No. 1 Scheffler and No. 9 Spieth ahead of next week’s PGA Championship 225 miles North in Tulsa Oklahoma.

I provide a AT&T Byron Nelson preview for PlayTexas and the PlayUSA Network as part of my coverage that includes a focus on the tournament and area golfers in weekly PGA TOUR events.

2022 AT&T Byron Nelson Odds

This is the second year of a six-year agreement with the PGA TOUR that TPC Craig Ranch hosts the tournament.

Concerts and live music return to this year’s tournament, and there will be plenty of partying and heckling surrounding the short par 3 at hole No. 17. The tournament committee has added stadium-style seating and grandstands surrounding the hole.

A hot putter following strong approach play will determine the winner. Last year’s winning score was 25-under par 263, and 60 golfers finished 10-under par or better. As you watch the event, the toughest scoring holes are the two par 4s at holes No. 16 (492 yards) and No. 13 (512 yards) and the two par 3s longer than 210 yards at No. 4 and No. 15. Last year, the easiest holes that yielded birdies at a 50% rate or better were the par 5’s at No. 5, 12 and 18 with the finishing hole playing as the easiest hole on the golf course.

AT&T Byron Nelson Picks

Check back ahead of the tournament as I post picks and match-ups Wednesday. Tournament match-ups are 12-6 this year following last week’s winner in the Wells Fargo Championship. Additional sports book betting data as available and updated Wednesday ahead of tournament.

Fairway’s Favorites: Zalatoris, Burns, Vegas, Hadwin
Fairway’s Longshots: Leishman, Mitchell, Kitayama, Schenk

Tournament Match-ups: Marc Leishman (+100) over Jason Day (BetMGM)

Next week it’s the PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Check out the SuperBook advance golf odds on all the golfers including the leading favorites and contenders ahead of the 2022 PGA Championship.

Updates: I added some bets after I posted picks. More match-ups and win wagers, including on early first round leader Sebastian Munoz. Will he go wire-to-wire? Not likely, but a chip-in bet.

Post Tournament update: Munoz had Round 1 and Round 3 leads, but couldn’t win the shootout finishing 2 shots back of repeat winner K.H. Lee. Also disappointed on tournament match-up push, as Leishman lost a 3-shot lead with 4 holes to play and made bogey on closing par 5 while Day made birdie on final hole. Tournament match-ups remain 12-6 in 2022 after last year’s sizzling 17-5 tournament match-up start through May.
