Sanderson Farms Championship Odds: Weaker Field Where Longshots Prevail
This week’s Sanderson Farms Championship odds shows no favorite below +1500, or 15/1 to win. Longshots of 50/1 or better have captured this event since 2014, and plenty of capable players further down the odds board to consider. This is the second PGA TOUR event for the 2021-22 season, and immediately follows last week’s Ryder Cup. Sergio Garcia returns to defend, but he’s not likely to be anywhere near his best as the only player from either the USA or European Ryder Cup team to travel to Mississippi for this week’s event.
There are no top 20 players from the Official World Golf Rankings playing this week. The top players in the field per the OWGR are:
- Sam Burns (25)
- Sungjae Im (29)
- Will Zalatoris (32)
- Corey Connors (33)
- Sergio Garcia (43)
- Matthew Wolff (47)
- Si Woo Kim (48)

Check out my full Sanderson Farms Championship preview at TheLines. It includes other longshots and Golfers to Watch with insight, analysis and information you can bet on. I’ve added a brief analysis on one of the golfers to watch mentioned, which includes Carlos Ortiz, Aaron Wise, Matt Wallace and Peter Malnati.
Carlos Ortiz (
)Ortiz tops the field in strokes gained total for players with at least 10 rounds at the Country Club of Jackson. He’s also No. 2 in SG: Off-the-Tee, which is a key metric this week, and top 10 in putting and short game. Ortiz has finished top-5 in this event in 2018 and 2019, and he has the second-best bogey avoidance rate on this course. His fate will be determined by his putter, but Ortiz can challenge again with odds of +400 or better for a top 10 finish also a worthy wager.
