Golden Knights And Avalanche Headline Outdoor Games At Lake Tahoe

What an event the NHL has created with the Outdoor Games at Lake Tahoe. The second-highest altitude games in NHL history feature the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche facing off Saturday in a spectacular setting at Edgewood Tahoe Resort. Sunday it’s the Boston Bruins and Philaelphia Flyers.

The Outdoor Games are on NBC at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, and 2:00 p.m. ET Sunday.

“I think the pictures, as beautiful as they are, don’t do it justice,” Vegas head coach Peter DeBoer said of the spectacular setting at Lake Tahoe. “This is a drop the mic-type outdoor rink. It’s the nicest I’ve ever seen.”

I’ve chipped in a little coverage at Forbes on the Outdoor Games with a focus on the two Stanley Cup favaorites Vegas Golden Knights (+550) and Colorado Avalanche (+650).

Try to tune in for the spectatular setting and outdoor event, and especially for the headliner Saturday between the Golden Knights and Avalanche.

More insight and analysis on the teams from my colleague ‘Sherwood’ included in my update and article at Forbes.

I wish I could attend an event like the Outdoor Games, but will settle for returning to T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and wathcing and reporting on the Golden Knights when the pandemic passes and fans and media can return to live events. Like last season at this time, the Golden Knights are the Stanley Cup favorites. The Avalanche may be a little better than Vegas, and i would only lean Colorado’s way if you’re betting on this ‘exhibition’ game at Lake Tahoe.

But the game and event should be a special and spectacular showcase. Based on the early reviews, it will be a day and event to remember. And one will likely see again in Lake Tahoe.

You can bet on it.
