When 2019 Kentucky Derby longshot winner Country House (65-1) was awarded first place following an inquiry and subsequent disqualification of Maximum Security in a controversial finish, it broke a streak of six straight years that the favorite had won the Kentucky Derby. Two of those winners were Triple Crown champions – Justify (2018) and American Pharoah (2015), who broke the long streak of 37 years without a Triple Crown champion that won the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes all in the same year.
