Largest Veteran’s Day Parade’s Packed With Tributes
Veteran’s Day is Nov. 11 and NFL and American’s Pay Tribute
Veteran’s Day is Nov. 11, and sports stadium’s across the country paid tribute to our U.S. veteran’s and honored them at weekend sporting events. In Las Vegas, the largest Veteran’s day parade west of the Mississippi drew thousand’s of fans to downtown Las Vegas. The parade was packed with tributes and featured more than 100 parade groups for the 23rd event put on by the nonprofit Veteran’s Action Group.
Each year, the NFL honors Veterans and military members with Salute to Service, and the games on Nov. 11 honored those Veterans, active-duty service members and their families.
Since 2011, Salute to Service has raised more than $26 million, and nearly $10 million has been raised through Salute to Service to support the league’s military appreciation non-profit partners, USO, Pat Tillman Foundation and Wounded Warrior Project. The league also partners with financial services company USAA. In honor of the men and women who serve our country, the NFL will again donate $1,000 for every point scored during the NFL’s 32 Salute to Service games to the partners.
NFL players are wearing helmet decals and of military branches at one selected home game in November to honor the Veteran’s and their families. The public and fans can help the Veteran’s and their families by simply sending a hashtag #SalutetoService on Twitter, and the NFL will donate up to $5 to nonprofit partners for every use of the hashtag Salute To Service through Nov. 19.
