College Football Upsets and NCAAF Shakeup in October

Top-10 College Football Shakeup as 4 more NCAAF Teams Lose on October 13

The upsets continue in college football as four more Top-10 teams suffered losses on Saturday, Oct. 13 – No. 2 Georgia, No. 6 West Virginia, No. 7 Washington and No. 8 Penn State. Georgia (6-1) and West Virginia (5-1) suffered their first NCAAF loss of the season, and we had LSU (+7) on our card and in contests in the Tigers 36-16 domination of the Georgia Bulldogs. Oregon and Michigan State also made our huge Week 7 college football card, as the Oregon Ducks (+3.5) beat the Washington Huskies 30-27 in overtime and Michigan State (+14) won at Penn State 21-17.

Here is the article I provided at BetAmerica, which is a recap of the last two weeks of college football upsets in the Top-10 and Top-25 of the Associated Press (AP) poll.

Unfortunately, LSU, Oregon or Michigan State did not make it on our weekly college football underdog report, which I post at osga.com and here each week. I had a huge NCAAF underdog card in Week 7, the biggest of the season, and had to narrow it down. I did mention in the article that I had played both LSU and Oregon. We had 11 underdogs on our college football card, and went 7-4 ATS. That included five outright underdog winners with lines at release on Michigan State (+14), LSU (+7.5), Iowa State (+6.5), Oregon (+3.5) and Ball State (+3). Near outright winners included Memphis (+5.5) in 31-30 loss and Tulsa (+7.5) in 25-24 defeat. A tough half-point loss with Missouri (+28.5) was costly with a late safety in a 39-10 defeat at No. 1 Alabama, and our best bets can do better as we work through our game selection management and ratings.

I’m tied for 2nd place in the 2018 Wise Guys contest with more than 50 invited handicappers competing for a $10,000 prize pool at Playbook.com, but now 5-1 on Best Bets after the Missouri loss. The contest is 18 weeks with 6 weeks completed, and we provide 2 NCAAF or NFL plays each week on Monday. I won the contest in 2010, and have multiple top-5 and top-10 finishes which annually draws 50-60 invited handicappers.

We’ll keep firing for more profit and green and work to get game selection management better as the college football season turns to the second half. Many more marquee match-ups, rivalry games and shakeup in the NCAAF rankings and conference standings as teams push for conference championships, bowl games and winning records the second half of the season. You can bet on it.
