NFL Look-Ahead Betting Lines and Market Moves for Week 6

Here is a weekly article I provide for TheLines with some insight into the market moves and advance look-ahead lines for NFL games.

The Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas provides the advance look-ahead lines each week on Tuesday for the following weeks games. I provide some thoughts and insight on using those advance lines and not overreacting to recent results while also recognizing potential letdown situations and scheduling dynamics that can impact performance and the betting line.

For the Week 6 games on Sunday, Oct. 14, these are the games where there was at least a two-point difference from the look-ahead line and current line:

  • Chicago at Miami (-1) – Current Line Miami +3.5
  • Tampa Bay at Atlanta (-6) – Current Line Atlanta -3
  • Seattle vs Oakland (PK) in London – Current Line Seattle -3
  • Baltimore at Tennessee (+1) – Current Line Tennessee +3

I also provide the look-ahead lines for Week 7An eye-opening number shows the LA Rams a 12.5-point road favorite at San Francisco on prime time Sunday night football Oct. 21. If that line holds steady when the Week 7 lines are released and bet into next week, it will make the LA Rams the biggest road favorite since the 2015 season, and just the 23rd time since 2003 that a road favorite has closed 12.5 or greater according to Bet Labs.

Going into Week 6 action, NFL home underdogs are 16-6 ATS this season, and we had two of them last week as outright winners with the Browns and Jets; two ugly dogs indeed.

As you watch and evaluate the games, injuries, key game-changing calls and go inside the numbers in boxscores and stats, try your best not to overreact to the scores and a recent result or two. By looking ahead to the point spread posted in advance by the Westgate Superbook in Las Vegas, you can stay more grounded and understand the linemakers approach and thoughts on a game and betting line more than a week in advance of the contests.
