Prop Betting On NFL Conference Championship Weekend

Saints and Rams Ready for Another Shootout in NFC Conference Championship

Prop betting is popular for bettors and big business at the sportsbooks. The Super Bowl will be a smorgasbord for proposition bets with the menu of options enormous, and a feast for sports betting fans. Here is an appetizer to consider for the NFC Championship player props between the Saints and LA Rams in New Orleans.

You can review the full analysis at Bet America extra. I also add other player props and analysis at Off Shore Gaming Association.

Also, follow the weather forecasts for the AFC Championship in Kansas City between the Chiefs and Patriots. I provide some insight in my article at Forbes.

Rams WR Robert Woods – OVER 5.5 receptions and 76.5 receiving yards.

The Saints are a 3-point favorite and the leading online sports books are expecting plenty of scoring on the fast indoor track with the over/under set at 57 points. Woods is one of the league’s most underrated and overlooked receivers. Despite playing on one of the top team and the Rams leading receiver this season with 86 receptions for 1,219 yards and 6 touchdowns, Woods is not mentioned as often as some of the league’s other name brand receivers. Rams quarterback Jared Goff says Woods “has the best hands of any receiver I’ve ever played with”, and he’s a consistent and complete receiver in all facets including blocking, screening, route running and of course catching the football.

The 26-year-old Woods was the top target in last week’s win over the Cowboys as Goff targeted Woods 8 times and he caught a team high 6 balls for 69 yards. He was the Rams leading receiver in their one playoff game last year with 9 catches for 142 yards. And in the Week 9 shootout loss to the Saints 45-35, Woods was targeted a team high 9 times and caught 5 passes for 71 yards.

The Rams have great balance on offense and they run the ball 29.9 times per game to rank among the league leaders. The Saints strength is run defense, allowing a league-low 3.6 yards per rush. But New Orleans will now be without their key interior lineman and No. 2 sack specialist in defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins, who tore his Achilles tendon in last week’s playoff win over the Super Bowl champion Eagles.

Teams are often forced to pass more against the Saints, and while Goff has not been as effective since losing WR Cooper Kupp to injury in mid-November, it’s Woods who has become his key No. 1 target. The Rams are going to attack the Saints suspect secondary, specifically cornerbacks Eli Apple and PJ Williams, who is Pro Football Focus‘ No. 109 ranked cornerback among 119 qualified players. Rams deep threat Brandin Cooks will stretch the field and allow the sure-handed woods to work underneath and the intermediate routes against man or zone coverage.

Read more about how receivers have done against Eli Apple and the Saints secondary in the rest of the analysis at Bet America.

Goff passed for 391 yards in the Week 9 game at New Orleans, and Woods had 5 receptions for 79 yards and was targeted a team high 9 times by his quarterback. We’re targeting Woods as our No. 1 option in the NFC Championship and won’t be surprised if he’s the Rams first player to score a touchdown (+500) either.
