NFL Home Underdogs Bounce Back In Week 9

NFL Week 9 News And Notes

NFL home underdogs went 5-0 SU/ATS on Sunday in Week 9, and we were on some of them including the Dolphins, Ravens and Chiefs late week with the announcement QB Mahomes would not play and the rising line on Kansas City as home ‘Dog.

Unfortunately, we had two underdog losers in our weekly underdog report for Week 9 that included the Lions and Buccaneers. The losses continue to be near laughable this time with the Buccaneers (+5) and bet +6 as well blowing a 21-7 lead at Seattle, only to lose in OVERTIME and failing to cover the spread. Even winning the coin flip would have nearly guaranteed a cover, yet the odds are still huge that the Bucs would get the cover (93% in OT at +5.5). It was nearly as bad with the Lions (+3), who had first and goal in the final minute at Oakland trailing 31-24 but failed three times inside the 4-yard line including on 4th down from the 1-yard line.

I cover the Week 9 underdog winners in my article at Forbes, which also notes that home teams went 11-0 SU/ATS on Sunday and one bettor had a $17 parlay hitting all 11 teams for more than $20,500 at his mobile account at DraftKings Sportsbook.

NFL home underdogs are now 16-19 ATS this season following a 6-1 ATS week, but just 10-24-1 SU.
