NFL Betting Podcast Week 15 with @FairwayJay
Monday night’s Bears – Cowboys game went flying over the total as provided in my Monday Night analysis; a rated play winner for members to complete a small losing week. Totals went 11-5 over/under for week 14 and 6-0 over the total in games and locations with poor weather conditions and a wintry mix.
A record 859 points were scored in week 14; an average of 53.7 points per game. Some truly remarkable games and finishes including 5 TD’s in the final 2:05 of the fourth quarter as the Ravens rallied for a 29-26 win over the Vikings (we had under the total; 12-7 with less than 2:10 to go).
This week we look ahead to the week 15 match-ups and again try to evaluate and analyze point-of-attack play and which teams can control the ball, clock and chains in match-ups that dictate such play. In week 14, teams than rushed the ball at least 30 times went 8-1 ATS. Teams that rushed the ball 20 times or less times 1-5 ATS. Clearly the Saints, with Pro-bowl QB and top passer Drew Brees have a pass-first offense and much improved defense. They can overcome some deficiencies in the running game (not as likely on the road), and they did against Carolina with just 15 rushes for 70 yards – out-gained by over 55 yards rushing but still pounded the Panthers 31-13.

The NFL Betting Podcast Week 15 features more ATS info and insight into the match-ups. FairwayJay discusses the standings and impact as teams push for the playoffs, along with weather issues and impact. While the weather didn’t taper the scoring in week 14 with a record 859 points scored for an average of 53 PPG, it’s important to still evaluate the weather, match-ups, type of game expected and anticipate line moves.
Situational handicapping is always something to consider and follow, and we’ll continue to use that in our evaluation of games and there are some solid situations to analyze and bet in week 15. We’ll continue to analyze the match-ups and evaluated relevant rushing and statistical parameters to help us become even more proficient in point spread prognosis. Remember, I have a proprietary data base of information and stats to guide me in many of the NFL games, but also understand the situations, match-ups and injury impact along with motivation as teams come down the stretch of the regular season.
Each week FairwayJay analyzes and discusses point of attack play as part of his handicapping of games, and points out proven profiles on teams that have success running the ball and stopping the run. Stats are evaluated further in FairwayJay’s weekly NFL Inside the Numbers article posted Wednesday’s, but note that through week 14 games, teams that run the ball 20 times or less in a game are a combined 13-69 (16%) ATS this season. Conversely, teams that run the ball at least 30 times per game are 89-22 ATS (80%) this season.
