FedEx Cup Playoff Odds: 2022 BMW Championship And New Course In Delaware

The FedEx Cup Playoffs is down to 70 eligible players in the current FedEx Cup Standings. Only 68 will tee it up this week in the 2022 BMW Championship after highly-ranked Cameron Smith withdrew (hip), along with Tommy Fleetwood (personal). The players will fire for the flags at a first-time course on the PGA Tour – the 7,534 yard par 71 at Wilmington Country Club in Delaware. Handicapping becomes more of a challenge this week, especially with limited time. I chipped-in a late tournament match-up below as we shoot for a 20th win sitting at 19-11 YTD on posted tournament match-ups on these pages.

Will Zalatoris now tops the FedEx Cup points standings after his extra holes playoff win at last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship. Just behind are Scottie Scheffler, Smith, Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele, last year’s FedEx Cup champion Patrick Cantlay, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and Sepp Straka, who lost in the playoff to Zalatoris but moved up sharply to secure a spot into next week’s Tour Championship at East Lake CC in Atlanta for the top-30 players.

2022 BMW Championship Odds

I chipped in some coverage for FanDuel and The Duel Sports, where I add some dark horse picks. I’ve landed on some others since Monday, but other commitments have me light on match-up analysis. I also add more BMW Championship coverage for Forbes, and pull betting data from Caesars Sportsbook.

2022 BMW Championship Picks

Fairway’s Favorites: Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas and Tony Finau
Fairway’s Longshots: Sungjae Im, Joaquin Nieman, Shane Lowry, Tyrrell Hatton

Tournament Match-ups: Justin Thomas (-110) over Will Zalatoris (BetMGM)

Following last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship and 1-1 tournament match-up report with an easy ‘Dog winner on Justin Thomas (+125), the posted match-up record is 19-11 in 2022. We’ll fire with Justin Thomas again this week shooting for a 20th tournament match-up win ahead of next week’s Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
