Betting The CJ Cup At Stunning Shadow Creek

Small and Loaded Field at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas for The CJ Cup

The PGA Tour stays in Las Vegas for the second straight week for The CJ Cup at exclusive and stunning Shadow Creek Golf Course. The field is just 78 players but stacked with the world’s best golfers.

The big news on the event is that The PGA TOUR announced today that BetMGM will provide betting odds for all four rounds of THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK in Las Vegas, Oct. 15-18 on Golf Channel. This will mark the first time that a PGA TOUR telecast will feature live odds.

The CJ Cup follows last week’s event in Las Vegas that ended in a 3-way playoff with Martin Laird (-23) winning over Matthew Wolff and Austin Cook at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. One of our big longshot picks James Hahn (165/1) finished T5 and paid off 14/1 for top-10. We had a full tournament match-up winner on Doc Redman over Cameron Champ and a few other individual round-by-round positive results.

Shadow Creek is one of the great golf courses in the Western United States. It was the vision of hotel magnate Steve Wynn and the Tom Fazio-designed masterpiece is picturesque beauty, luxury and style. The course opened in 1990 and is very exclusive. Now owned by MGM Resorts International and renovated in 2008 by Fazio, selected guests of MGM are allowed to play Shadow Creek.

Shadow Creek hosted The Match: Tiger vs. Phil in 2018, and you may recall the gambling and betting as part of the broadcast with odds from BetMGM.

Approach play will be a key strokes gained stat when handicapping the stellar field this week.

The top-5 players in Strokes Gained: Approach over their last 24 rounds includes: Dustin Johnson, Russell Henley, Justin Thomas, Brandan Steele and Matthew Wolff.

The top-5 players in Total Strokes Gained over their last 24 rounds includes: Dustin Johnson, Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler, Matthew Wolff and Harris English.

Wider fairways and rolling terrain will give strong Tee-to-Green players an advantage as they handle the elevation changes. Tight collars make Around the Green play important along with Putting on above average undulating greens.

The event is worth wagering on and watching for the sheer beauty, almost like Augusta National and The MastersShadow Creek is complete with rolling terrain, thousands of pines, bursts of flowers and a network of creeks and lakes. The foliage and features block out any glimpse of the surrounding desert, except for the mountain peaks.

I’ll update any betting picks and tournament matchups as they are released and post here prior to the tournament.
