Betting At Bay Hill – 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational

PGA Tour Picks And Betting Preview Of 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational

The Florida swing continues in Orlando this week for the Arnold Palmer Invitational (API) at Bay Hill Club and Lodge. The Par 72 plays to approximately 7,454 yards and carries a purse of $9.3 million with $1,674,000 to the winner.

In my PGA Tour preview of the API at Forbes, I provide insight and information you can bet on including picks and player profiles.

Pre-tournament odds to win from the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas and oddsmaker Jeff Sherman.

Rory McIlroy is the prohibitive favorite this week at 5-1 at many sportsbooks including the SuperBook. Eight-time API winner at Bay Hill Tiger Woods is out this week recovering from a strained back. To give you an idea of how (ridiculously) low the odds are on McIlroy this week, Tiger Woods lowest pre-tournament odds in any of his victories at Bay Hill was 8-1.

The Action Network interviewed Westgate SuperBook Las Vegas oddsmaker Jeff Sherman this week to provide some insight on golf odds and betting.

“The next step for golf wagering is in-play wagering and increased weekly proposition wagering opportunities,” Sherman said. He noted that the weekly golf betting handle continues to increase since the SuperBook started offering a winning score proposition for all PGA TOUR tournaments.

”Golf wagering has increased exponentially in recent years, and this trend is expected to continue as more jurisdictions pass legislation to accept sports wagering,” Sherman added. “I can envision daily score props for golfers in addition to the daily matchups.”

Betting props and match-ups is the prudent play when looking to profit consistently betting on golf. But taking a small swing in your bankroll on which players will win can provide a solid score in your search for value and lonshots. Here are four players to consider adding to your bag and win wagers. Odds vary from leading online sportsbooks including FanDuel Sportsbook, and those referenced golf odds are from the SuperBook in Las Vegas.

Fairway’s Foursome and Picks to Win the Arnold Palmer:

  • Collin Morikawa (40-1)
  • Abraham Ancer (60-1)
  • Patrick Rodgers (125-1)
  • Matthew Fitzpatrick (50-1), who has displayed solid play and putting in 13 Florida starts and was the 54-hole leader last year at Bay Hill before finishing second. A top-10 finish for Fitzpatrick would also pay +1200 ($100 to win $1200) with best odds at DraftKings Sportsbook.

72 hold match-up: Fowler (-110) over Koepka. Read more in my tournament preview article at Forbes with odds, analysis, insight and information you can bet on.

The popularity and interest in golf betting continues to grow, and there are so many possibilities for fan engagement and betting on golf. That includes fantasy golf and contests at sites like DraftKings which adds even more interest to the game. The PGA Tour realizes that, and this week The Action Network and the PGA TOUR announced the launch of GolfBet, a first-of-its-kind, golf-focused betting content platform.

Best wishes in your pursuit of profit and more birdies and green at Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Next week is an even bigger event and prize pool ($15 million) at The PLAYERS Championship and TPC Sawgrass.
